This is hardly surprising, considering the immense global success of both the novel and the movie, which was released in 2014 and swept that year\u2019s awards ceremonies clean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-custom-color-4-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-5 wp-container-content-72558541 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:0;padding-left:0;font-style:normal;font-weight:700\">With the exception of Gillian Flynn\u2019s die\u2013hard fans, and murder mystery fanatics, the author\u2019s debut novel \u2013 Sharp Objects \u2013 seems to have faded into insignificance in comparison to Gone Girl, which is still widely talked about and praised, even after being on the shelves for over three years. As a besotted Gillian Flynn reader, who devoured Sharp Objects multiple times before Gone Girl, this is something that upsets me greatly, because in my opinion, Sharp Objects is hands down the best Gillian Flynn novel to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-custom-color-4-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-6 wp-container-content-72558541 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:0;padding-left:0;font-style:normal;font-weight:700\">Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: she must return to her tiny hometown to cover the unsolved murder of a preteen girl and the disappearance of another.
